Smart, very smart. I don't usually wear gloves when I'm just going out for a short ride through the parkway (40 MPH), but when I'm on the 50-60 MPH 2-lane roads, I like to at least wear "fingerless" gloves. The padded palms seem to grip a little better, and isolate some more vibration. And if I go down, my palms are most likely to get the brunt of the pressure on the ground.
